James Earl Jones est un acteur américain, né le 17 janvier 1931 à Arkabutla (Mississippi).
Il est le fils de l'acteur Robert Earl Jones (1910-2006). Il est notamment connu pour avoir prêté sa voix au célèbre Dark Vador de la saga Star Wars ainsi qu'à Mufasa dans Le Roi lion et la voix "off" de CNN pendant les anées 80 et 90 "this is CNN". Il reçoit en 2012 un Oscar d'honneur pour l'ensemble de sa carrière.
